Abstract. Polymeric additives are widely used in the different types of the oils primarily to regulate their viscosity-temperature characteristics. Being chemically inert, polymers also actively influence the effectiveness of other functional additives in the oils, due to their quite high surface activity and the creation of a fluctuational network within the oil volume.
