Abstract.In study the prerequisites of sol-gel method working up for industrial production of aluminum hydroxide (AH) as a binder in the processes of obtaining catalyst supports is briefly set forth. The researching results of different AH phases (amorphous, pseudoboehmite, bayerite) formation mechanism are depicted, primarily derived in period of industrial AH producing technology development. The principal parameters and operating conditions of two basic process stages — aluminum alkoxides hydrolysis and gelling -, which control the phase composition of the AH-product, are found out. Sol-gel process parameters determining get of preferably pure boehmite phase are vigorous mixing of reagents flows, high hydrolysis temperature – 90°C and high gelling modulus (peptization coefficient) ≥ 0.5 g acid /g alkoxide Al. The information revealed during analysis of literary sources may be used in the elaboration of AH production by similar sol-gel method in the Russian Federation.
