Abstract. An overview of current trends in lubricants production is presented. Considering the development of the vehicles and the ongoing substitution of import products, the production of lube oils in the Russian Federation is expected to grow, as well as the consumption of additives for them. The requirements for additive packages are also changing, the number of components in which for modern oils can reach 10 items. The creation of domestic additive production requires the construction of chains to produce medium- and low-tonnage chemical products of several stages, as well as scientific research to select the optimal composition and properties of these products.
