Abstract. The results of studies using X-RAY diffraction of the modified catalyst ZSM-5-ZrO2 and waste in the alkylation process and regenerated ZSM-5-ZrO2 (used) are presented. The presence of three main phases of the ZSM-5-ZrO2 catalyst was determined — ZSM-5, ZrSi24O50 and ZrO2.
Based on the IR spectra, differences were revealed in the absorption region of 2800-3800 cm-1, corresponding to the stretching vibrations of the OH groups of the ZSM-5 and ZSM-5-ZrO2 catalysts. When replacing protons with the Zr cation, the number of protons decreases and the acidity of the catalyst changes. In this case, part of the Brensted acid sites turns into Lewis sites.
Using SEM analysis, the surface topography, composition and component content of the modified ZSM-5-ZrO2 catalyst and ZSM-5-ZrO2(neg) spent during the alkylation process were studied in comparison with ZSM-5 zeolite. The catalyst samples differ in the quantitative content of catalyst elements in different areas of the surface.
Alkylation under optimal conditions of T-30 oil with catalytic cracking gases on modified samples of catalysts ZSM-5-ZrO2 and ZSM-5-ZrO2(used) showed that the viscosity indices of the alkylates are high and amount to 137 and 117.8, respectively, against 80.7 on the unmodified zeolite ZSM-5.
